Globally acclaimed hair stylist, Kevin Murphy is returning to Melbourne Fashion Week‘s runways as Hair Director for the 16th year. Australia’s most highly-anticipated fashion showcase will take place from 28 August – 5 September, highlighting hair trends for Spring/Summer 2019. Set to be working with some of the most respected designers in the industry, including J’Aton Couture, Martin Grant, Nevenka, Camilla and Marc and Manning Cartel, Kevin Murphy and his team will no doubt bring incredible creativity and zest to the runway.
“It’s such an honour to be a long-term partner of such an important event on Australia’s fashion calendar and each year Melbourne Fashion Week gets bigger and better and really brings Melbourne and its fashion culture to life,” Kevin said. “There’s an undeniable buzz around Melbourne during Melbourne Fashion Week. The week creates a great opportunity to celebrate new season fashion, push the boundaries on new hair trends while also shining the spotlight on this incredible city.”
Fresh from international runways including Chanel, Versace and Fendi, model Adut Akech has been announced as the Official Ambassador for Melbourne Fashion Week 2019.
‘I remember working with Adut 3 years ago when she was walking in every show for Melbourne Fashion Week, she has found phenomenal success overseas and it is so exciting to have her back in Melbourne as the face of Melbourne Fashion Week, we are so excited to be working with her again’ Kevin said.
In an exciting addition for KEVIN.MURPHY, Kevin will also take part in the Fashion Forum on Monday 2 September where he will talk on a panel discussing the Future of Fashion and the vision he has for a more sustainable and environmentally focused beauty industry. This year, KEVIN.MURPHY will become the first beauty brand to use 100% Ocean Waste Plastic in all of its packaging, clearing our oceans of over 360 tons of plastic each year.
“This change is for the future of our environment and for us as a brand to be truly sustainable and to clean up our oceans and save our planet and our industry for future generations. I am honoured to have the opportunity to share my mission with the Melbourne Fashion Week audience’ Kevin said.
