The sunburnt outback plains of Australia’s red centre are the backdrop of ELEVEN Australia’s latest campaign, aptly titled Alice Springs. The campaign celebrates the movement, vastness and colours of Australia’s stirring landscapes and is an ode to the Australian heritage of the ELEVEN Australia brand.
The open spaces that meet boundless skies, bold silhouettes rich in colour and velvety red sand paving the iconic outback plains of Simpsons Gap, Illpara Claypans and Hale in the Northern Territory created the perfect stunning scenes to shoot for the campaign. The campaign combines immense texture and strong structure in its hair and fashion styling, with bold colour choices complementing the vibrant, rustic outback landscape.
“The Australian outback with its sunburnt landscapes, rich red dunes, and deep blue sky was the perfect backdrop to bring the colour of ELEVEN Australia to life. We wanted to capture the esscence of our Australian roots and show the world the rugged beauty of home. It was incredible to see the textures Joey [Scandizzo] created with the model’s hair against the rugged, natural landscapes of the outback. The golden light and the vast open spaces really highlighted the wonder of Australia. We felt connected to the land,” said Andrew O’Toole, photographer and ELEVEN Australia Co-Creative Director.
Encapsulating the vibrancy and boldness of ELEVEN Australia, each look from the Alice Springs campaign encompasses elements of texture, movement and fluidity found in Australia’s desert.
“Everyone knows I love the ocean but being in the remote centre of Australia shooting this campaign with Andrew [O’Toole] and the ELEVEN Australia team was such an incredible experience. With this shoot being about colour and movement, it was important that was reflected in the hair. Working with the model’s natural hair textures, nothing was too perfect or over worked. I wanted it to be free and something that represented who we are as ELEVEN – modern, wearable, attainable,” said Joey Scandizzo, two-time Hair Expo Australian Hairdresser of the Year and ELEVEN Australia Co-Creative Director.
Joey utilised ELEVEN Australia’s Miracle Hair Treatment on the shoot for its UVA and UVB protection, an essential for the harsh Aussie sun. I Want Body Texture Spray, Smooth & Shine Anti Frizz Serum and Medium Hold Styling Cream were also on high rotation to create body, volume and a natural sheen, complementing a variety of textures found in the Australian outback.
