Mesmeric- ‘Causing a person to become completely transfixed and unaware of their surroundings.’
Bridie notes that she created her ‘mesmeric’ collection based on her own personal style and what she feels represents her as an individual, and what she finds fascinating, alluring, captivating and beautiful in this world.
“My collection inspiration came purely from my imaginative state of innocence from my early years,” says Bridie. “A human-like mystical being that has magical powers and is known for their elegance and beauty. I wanted to combine a memory from when I was a little girl in which I could turn my imaginative fantasy into a feminine mesmeric collection that would visualise as a form of ‘art’ in nowadays.
Fairies are known to be able to change the curious aspects of nature, they live under water and in luscious green hills. I wanted to interpret colours of nature from where these mystical creatures would be found…Shades of blues, smokey amethyst, muted teals, and soft pastel pinks.
I wanted to create textures in the hair that resembled natural elegance, the textures in each photo come in all different movements and shapes. Some being more structured, others working with natural texture. I wanted a combination of curly, straight and tousled hair.
From the day I began hairdressing, I’ve been driven to learn everything I could, and even managed to complete my apprenticeship in two years. It has been a challenge but ultimately rewarding. With my passion and devotion I’m excited to see what my future holds,” Bridie says.
