Hair Expo has today announced exciting updates to the Hair Expo Awards for 2018, including the appointment of Julie Piantadosi to the role of Awards Ambassador and Head Judge.
Julie Piantadosi appointed to new position of Awards Ambassador and Head Judge
From 2018, prominent business coach Julie Piantadosi will take on the role of Hair Expo Awards Ambassador and Head Judge. A regular (and popular) speaker at Hair Expo, Julie has enthusiastically agreed to lend her support to the judging panel and to awards entrants throughout the submission process.
Julie will act as a valuable sounding board to ensure entrants feel confident meeting each category’s criteria, and that assessment is conducted at the highest possible standard come judging time.
“I’m honoured to be the Hair Expo Awards Ambassador and Head Judge for 2018. These are the most recognised, prestigious awards in Australia. As the voice for our industry, I’m committed to setting the benchmark for excellence in all categories. I’ll be assisting salons and stylists, both old and new to the industry, to feel empowered to enter these renowned awards; and I’ll be governing the entire judging process and supporting everyone involved”, said Julie about her new role.
Hair Expo Australia’s Awards Manager, Elli Julia, commented:
“The quality and quantity of the photographic collections for the Hair Expo Awards this year were exceptional. We decided that for 2018, we wanted to focus on improving the business aspect of the awards to increase the benefits for all entrants. We’re thrilled to welcome Julie on board to help our judges and entrants navigate this process. Julie’s deep connections with the industry and many years of experience in business coaching mean that she is more than qualified to take on this important role. We’re confident that our judges and entrants for the 2018 Hair Expo Awards will feel very much supported in Julie’s capable hands”.
Additional business experts to be added to the awards judging panel
Business experts from outside of the hair industry will join the 2018 judging panel to weigh in on the written submissions. These experts will be handpicked by Hair Expo and Julie Piantadosi. They will bring additional business experience to the panel of 10 international and 10 national hair industry icons, which includes previous awards winners and ambassadors.
Hair Expo will also assign a major international financial firm to supervise the final judging scores, and to conduct independent spot auditing of all entries to the 2018 awards.
Refresh: how the awards are judged
The Hair Expo Awards weighting remains unchanged, with 50 percent of an entry’s overall score assigned to the photographic collection, and 50 percent assigned to the written business submission for creative categories.
Hair Expo’s prestigious global judging panel will return this year, with the final panel revealed shortly. To give you an idea of who sits on the panel, 2017’s included international names like Angelo Seminara, Tabatha Coffey, Guy Tang and Eugene Souleiman; and local icons like Sharon Blain, Brad Ngata, Frank Apostolopoulos and Caterina Di Biase.
